These partnerships aim to enhance local education, training, and employment prospects, ensuring that the benefits of the Rhydycar West project extend to the wider community.
Merthyr College MOU Highlights
The collaboration with Merthyr College will focus on:
- Developing collaborative programmes in disciplines such as Engineering, Hospitality, Leisure & Tourism, Applied Science, Ecology, Sustainability, Sport, Outdoor Sport, and Arts & Cultural Heritage.
- Promoting research and knowledge transfer initiatives that benefit both parties, including research collaboration, business engagement, talent pipeline development, marketing, promotion activities, and providing work experience and employability opportunities for learners.
Tydfil Training MOU Highlights
The partnership with Tydfil Training will involve:
- Establishing work experience, placement, employment, training, apprenticeship, and entrepreneurship initiatives, including options for young people and unemployed adults through programmes like the Welsh Government's "Jobs Growth Wales Plus".
- Creating apprenticeship opportunities across various sectors involved in the planning, implementation, construction, and operation of the Rhydycar West project.
- Supporting local businesses through the Merthyr Tydfil Enterprise Centre (MTEC) with activities such as mentorship, franchise opportunities, "Meet the Buyer" events, and workshops.
- Assisting in the identification and delivery of staff training and continuous professional development (CPD) activities.
