Rhydycar West Announces Key Commitments to Support Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre

We've been working hard to ensure that our presence bolsters the economic vitality and tourism appeal to Merthyr Tydfil town centre. A key part of our strategy is the strategic partnership we've formed with the MTEC business centre.

Understanding the changing dynamics of town centres nationwide, we at Rhydycar West are committed to ensuring that our development brings widespread benefits to our local community. A major step in this direction is to provide a free shuttle bus service. This service will provide a seamless connection between the resort and the town centre, making it easier for visitors to access key attractions like Cyfarthfa Park. Unlike traditional leisure destinations, Rhydycar West is unique in welcoming day visitors and positioning ourselves as a hub for the various adventure opportunities and experiences in the region.

Our commitment doesn't stop there. We're collaborating with MTEC to promote local entrepreneurship, a move that underscores our dedication to the community. With an expected annual influx of hundreds of thousands of visitors, this partnership is set to open a wealth of opportunities for businesses in Merthyr Tydfil. To amplify this partnership, we're co-hosting an interactive community drop-in event with MTEC at Scorccini's Pizzeria on the High Street, from 3pm to 6pm on Tuesday 21st November. This event is a fantastic opportunity for town-centre businesses to learn about our proposals, explore collaborative possibilities, and actively shape the future relationship between the Town Centre and Rhydycar West.

Lyn Williams, Communication Manager for Rhydycar West and a proud owner of a town centre business in Merthyr Tydfil, commented on the initiatives: "Town centres everywhere are changing fast – more online shopping, fewer people on the high street. Merthyr Town Centre also has its own fair share of challenges, I see it every day with my own business. However, you see the potential for positive change with attractions like Bike Park Wales who already bringing its fair share of visitors. Rhydycar West would add to that mix and have a significant impact on visitors and economic activity. We're talking about a chance to bring heaps of visitors right to our doorstep. Rhydycar West is proposing free shuttles busses, teaming up with businesses in the area, and doing all we can to give both the resort and the town a real boost. It is important for local town centre businesses to pop by the event. Let's chat, share ideas, and see how we can all benefit from what could potentially be on the horizon"
